Welcome to Chimps' Class
In Chimps' class Mr Payne is the class teacher. Classroom support is given by Mrs Wilson and Miss Wooff.
In Summer term we will be learning about seaside holidays in the past. We will be finding out about the developments that led to holidays becoming more popular and how holidays in the past differ from what they are like today. We will be learning about coastal geography and considering our impact upon the changing coastline of Britain. Later in the term we will be undertaking a 'Coastal clean-up' Lego Mindstorms programming challenge. In English we will be writing stories that include a 'flash-back' to the past and also a newspaper report, this will all be based around the sinking of the Titanic. In Maths we are developing our skills in reasoning and arithmetic in readiness for our SATs tests.
Clitheroe Castle trip
On 19th February we took a trip to Clitheroe Castle, where we re-enacted the Battle of Hastings, handled weapons from the period and learnt about the design of a Motte and Bailey castle.
In our Science work we will be learning about how living things are classified. We will be using our computing skills to produce interactive presentations that give information about the different classes of animals in a given habitat.
Christmas project homework
Chimps class have been getting very festive with their most recent project homework.
On the 20th October 6C held their Business Week sale. They made a range of products themed around Halloween - trick or treat baskets, ghost lollys, monster bookmarks and spooky pom poms. The children raised £60 which will go towards their leaver's hoodies at the end of the year.
On the 26th September Year 6 had a 'survival day' at Brockholes Wildlife Reserve, near Preston. Whilst there, they learnt how to make fires and build shelters. They also went pond-dipping to study how different invertebrates are adapted to survive.
