Autumn Term

Welcome to our Year 5 class! I hope you're all ready for a new year of fun packed activities and learning, I know we are, Ms Eccles and Mrs Stableford.

In English this half term, we're learning about Legend's of the past. The children will be reading and analysing many legends with the aim of writing their very own.

In our Maths, we are using the Maths No Problem scheme of work and will begin the year by working on embedding our Place Value knowledge.

Our wider curriculum focus is based on A Kingdom United. In our Geography and History lessons will delve deeper into understanding our country, what changes came after the Romans, how the Anglo Saxons changed Britain and what has stayed with us to this day. It is all very exciting.

We are very lucky to have swimming this year, this will take place on a Monday afternoon, PE days are Friday and swimming will take place of PE on a Monday. Outdoor PE Kit is recommended as the weather turns colder.

Children must read at home a minimum of four times within a week, this can include Reading Plus. Books will go home on a Friday and must be returned on the following Friday. Reading records must be signed by an adult.
