End of year

The end of another year signals the time for our Year 6 children to leave. They have been a fantastic year group and everyone at Woodlea wishes them the very best for the future.

Robinwood

What a fantastic week of outdoor activity! Here are a few snaps of some of the highlights of the week.

Summer Term

Hello! Welcome to Year 6! It is great to welcome you all back to another super year at Woodlea.

Mr McCracken is the class teacher, and Mrs Quinn is our class TA.

English

In English this half term, we will be completing a non-chornological report based upon Leyland and the Nowhere Emporium.

Maths

In our Maths, we will be doing some transition work in preparation for Year 7 and secondary school.

Wider Curriculum

Our wider curriculum focus for the Spring Term will be how Britain survived in 1940 during the Second World War. We will also complete a local fieldwork study of Leyland in geography. Our RE focus is Buddhism  and in science we will be studying light.

PE

Our PE days are Wednesday and Friday.

Homework

Homework will be set on a Friday and it is to be completed by the following Friday.  Homework will be set online using either TTRockstars, Mathletics and  Spelling Shed.

This will be put on the class page each week.

Reading

Children must read at home a minimum of four times within a week; please can at least two of these reads be completed on Reading Plus. Books will go home on a Friday and must be returned on the following Friday. Reading records must be signed by an adult.

Tudor Experience Day (PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF DATE)

Year 6 Autumn Termly Newsletter

The Jubilee

As our decade for the Jubilee was the 2000’s, we researched what life was like during this decade, and the major events for the Monarchy at this time.

Autumn Term

Autumn term has certainly been a busy one! Alongside our curriculum, we have enjoyed a performance of Macbeth from the Young Shakespeare Company, been pond dipping, built go-karts with the UK Military School and enjoyed making a Tudor pottage, among many other great experiences. As the weather warms up you can be sure more will follow in Spring!
