MESSAGE OF APPRECIATION FROM ST MARY'S FOODBANK
Hi all at Woodlea School,
I would like to thank you all for your very generous donation of food that you brought round today.
Due to the covid situation we were unable to invite you in to see what we do. I would be delighted to do so in the future.
The need for food is high at the moment with more individuals and families struggling with furlough or redundancy. Your donations will help ensure that we can keep supplying parcels to those in need.
It was lovely to see the bright smiling faces of so many very soggy children who were a delight to meet.
I hope you all have a very happy Christmas.
Kind regards
Celia Neill
Leyland (St. Mary’s) Foodbank coordinator.
Despite Woodlea and the rest of the country being in 'lockdown', we wanted to show our respects for those that have ;lost their lives in conflict.
Our Team Captains went to the Council Offices and listened to the Mayor, witnessed the firing of the cannon and observed the 2 minutes silence.
Meanwhile in school, all the children went outside in their bubbles. Myself and other staff read poems of Remembrance and spoke about the significance of the day, 11.11.11 and the reasoning behind the Red Poppy.
At 11am, the church bells chimed 11 and the canon was heard from the Council Offices: this started Woodlea's observation of the 2 minutes silence.
An email from Leyland Food bank to say 'Thank you'.
To all pupils and staff
I would like to thank you all for your very kind and generous donation from your harvest festival.
We will be able to give food parcels to our individual clients and families who are struggling at the moment. We anticipate an increased demand for help as more people are struggling due to the Covid pandemic, so your donation will be a great help over the next few weeks.
Please pray for our clients and us, and we will pray for you all,
Kind regards,
Celia Neill,

Chocolate Bingo this week raised £850. This money will go direct to your children.
Thank you for all donations and support.
On Friday 15th June, Woodlea Junior School will be supporting the Alzheimer’s Society by holding our very own ‘Cup Cake Sale’.
We are asking the children to donate cakes to school, so that they can be sold to support the event.
Parents are welcome to come along on Friday from 2pm and buy cupcakes or have a coffee and a chat in the Heart of the school. During this time the children will also have an opportunity to buy cakes.
We look forward to seeing you on Friday.
Endangered Animal Fundraisers
All classes chose to do an activity in class. In return for their various activities, the children brought in donations which would go towards adopting their class endangered animal for the year. During the year the classes will recieve updates and pictures of their animal.
Children In Need
Thank you for all donations made to Children In Need. Some children and staff dressed in Yellow or wore Spots. There were cakes and biscuits made and sold during break time and after school.
The money from Woodlea is being merged with what St Andrews and Woodlea Kids Club have raised and go direct to Children In Need.
