Hi All, Mrs Shorrocks Weekly Challenge!
Remember when we had 'Good To Be Me Day' back in February. You all heard the story, 'Only One You' about being an individual, celebrating difference and being unique. I was out walking and saw the perfect rock and had a thought. I'd like you to decorate a rock as a fish! I painted the rock first of all with white gloss paint and then used Molly's collection of brightly coloured nail varnishes to make my fish stand out. Please make yours unique and stand out from the others. When you have finished with it, please upload a picture and when we return to Woodlea, bring it with you.
Thank you and I cannot wait to see your creativity! Mrs Shorrocks
In Year 4, we rounded up our learning by holding a Greek theatre to present the information to our parents. To see the presentations please visit Rhino's Class page.
Mad Science!
Wow! All the children were very excited to meet Nuclear Naz, one of the mad scientists from Mad science. She treated us to demonstrations using different types of energy. With volunteers from different classes, she used this energy as a magic wand, to read minds and create a burning candle. The children were all fascinated by the experiments seen and all had a tremendous time!
We hope to welcome the Mad Scientists back to Woodlea Junior School for an After school club on a Thursday in the new year. Please see the letter sent home or call in at the office for more information.

In September Woodlea, Mrs Shorrocks, Mr Cook and two pupils were lucky enough to go to Rio to support the Paralympics.
Rhino Class send some ‘Woodlea Watcher’ newspaper articles all about Ellie Simmonds.

Raising the profile of Art at Woodlea.
In order to raise the profile of Art in school, we have been exploring British artists and their work. The children have all created a piece of work in the style of their class artist. We have been working alongside a company who mount, frame and display children’s work to sell. (They are a non-profitable company) www.mymasterpiece.co.uk Any profit made will be going to school funds for equipment/ resources that will benefit the children.
Each child will have their work displayed in an exhibition in the school hall on Tuesday 14th June, viewing is available from 2.30pm. Please send in the money with your child (named, in an envelope with class details) if you would like to purchase your child's work, framed art work will be in school until Friday 17th June.
Cost £6.00 per 1 for families- £10.00 for 2 £14.00 for 3. Additional copies are £5.

Army Attack!
On Tuesday 29th March 2016, some of year 4 went along to Runshaw College to take part in an event, planned and delivered by sports coaching students. As part of their degree they had to organise an event around an Army themed. The children all had a brilliant time.
