Our Learning

In English this term, we are learning about the adventures of Hugo Cabret. We will be analysing the story and the film before writing our own narrative based upon the adventures of Hugo. Our learning then focuses on life in the rainforest, paying particular attention to deforestation.

Decimals and shape will be covered in maths in a variety of different ways, as it is important that we can solve more challenging problems by carefully explaining our methods. Arithmetic skills and times tables will also be covered.

We thoroughly enjoyed dressing up as Anglo-Saxons this term. We created Anglo-Saxon pottery and made pottage, which we then cooked over the campfire.

Everyone in Year 5 had the opportunity to participate in a 2-day bike course that taught them how to ride safely on the road, signalling to change direction and how to listen out for potential hazards. They all did extremely well.
