Woodlea's Reading Challenge
Woodlea’s reading challenge is for all the children in school. The books have come from recommended reading lists and are a cross section of genres covering readers of all abilities.
All the books in the challenge are available in school for all the children to access and have been funded by our PTA.
The challenge is meant to be completed during a child’s four years in Woodlea, however there has to be a starting point, which means that most children in school today have less time.
During the launch in school, the children were given additional details about the challenge.
- The purpose of the challenge is for children to develop a love for reading and across many genres.
- Books can be read alone, read to the children or with an adult.
- During a Tuesday lunchtime, all the books are available for children to read and or borrow. It is here that books read from this starting point, will be signed off by Mrs Bell.
- If children have already read any of the books from the list, these can be signed off by a parent.
- Where it says a ‘series’ the children must read a minimum of 3 books.
