Elephants

Hello and welcome to Elephants Class!

 

In Elephants this year, Miss Newton is the class teacher. We also have Mrs Rufus supporting our learning.

 

We have a very exciting year planned this year. Please keep an eye on this page to see what we have been getting up to!

Spring 1

 

In English our writing genre will be science fiction with the children working towards writing their own science fiction story.  For our non-fiction piece the children will be writing an information booklet linked to our science unit on space.

 

For our Maths lessons, we follow Maths No Problem. We will be starting the Spring term by completing our fractions unit before moving on to decimals, percentages, geometry and finally position and movement.

Within our arithmetic sessions, we will be using Fluent in 5 alongside Rapid Reasoning to develop children’s fluency.

 

In History, we will be learning about the Kingdom of Benin. In Spring 2, our Geography learning will be a city study based on the city of Liverpool. During Spring 1 in Science, we will be looking at Space before moving on to forces in Spring 2. Our RE learning in Spring 1 will be based on Hinduism and Christianity in Spring 2. In Art, we will be looking at landscape art before producing our own landscape picture.  DT, in Spring 2, will be, making African musical instruments.  Both classes will continue swimming in PE with Leopards taking part in Military school for their second PE lesson and Elephants doing dance in Spring 1 before moving on to invasion games in Spring 2. 

 

Please note - PE days are Monday (swimming) and Thursday (PE).

 

Homework

Just a reminder we have homework club after school on Tuesday's, open to everyone to help them complete their homework.
