Welcome to Year 6 Orangutans – Autumn Term Adventure!
Welcome to the Orangutans class – a team of curious, courageous, and creative learners ready to make the most of their final year at primary school! It is an honour to have guided your children into Woodlea in Year 3, but now I have the privilege of their final year. In our quest for success, Orangutans are supported by myself, Mrs O’Shea and Mrs Green.
This Autumn term, we’re diving into a rich and exciting curriculum. In our topic work, we’re stepping back in time to explore World War I – learning about the causes of the war, life in the trenches, and how the war affected people both on the battlefield and at home. Through drama, art, writing, and research, we’ll be bringing this important period of history to life.
In science, we’re exploring Evolution and Inheritance – discovering how living things have changed over time, what traits are passed down through generations, and how adaptation helps species survive. With hands-on investigations and fascinating case studies (including some involving ancient creatures!), it's a unit packed with wonder and discovery.
Across the curriculum, Year 6 are developing their independence, resilience, and leadership skills – setting a fantastic example for the rest of the school. We're embracing every opportunity with enthusiasm and maturity, and we’re excited to see just how far we can go this year.
Keep an eye on this page for updates, photos, and highlights from our Orangutan adventures – it’s going to be an inspiring and unforgettable term!
