All of the Woodlea Family are extremely proud of Ellise, who had 12 inches of her hair cut off. She did this to support the Little Princess Trust. Her hair was sent off to the charity who make wigs for little boys and girls who have sadly lost their own hair through cancer treatment.
Thank you Ellise!
The first Wednesday of each month, Mrs Leggett and Mrs Lunn sell 'Bacon Butties' to the staff and children.
Yet again today there has been a great uptake.
Dear Parents,
We are extremely happy and excited to announce that on Wednesday 21st December 2016, we are taking the whole school to The Lowry Theatre in Manchester, to watch the matinee performance of ‘Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang’.
As you can imagine, the planning for such a visit takes months and the tickets were purchased in May of this year. The full cost for the visit, including theatre tickets, transport and insurance will be fully funded by Woodlea’s PTA.
As this is a matinee performance, we will be returning to school later than the end of a regular school day, at approximately 6pm. However you will receive further details, including departure and arrival times in due course.
I am sure that you will agree that this is an amazing opportunity for our children.
Thank you for your continued support,
Jillian Shorrocks and Woodlea’s PTA
Thank you to all the families that donated cakes for today's Coffee Morning. Please keep checking the 'Fundraising Page' for the total raised today.
It was a pleasure to see so many of you supporting the school and the Macmillan charity.
Congratulations to all our children who were elected to represent one of the 4 councils. Thank you to everyone who participated in the process.

Dear Parents and Carers,
It is with great sadness that I write this letter to inform you about the sad news
that Mrs June Hutton passed away in July.
June has been an integral part of Woodlea for over 25 years. During her association with Woodlea her roles included; cook, teaching assistant, welfare officer, PTA and Parent Task Group member. Even after retirement, she continued
to find time to come into school and listen to the children read and develop their understanding and knowledge of the text. These roles have always been carried out in June’s friendly and caring manner, which we all miss: children and adults alike.
June has enriched so many children’s and adult’s lives during her long and devoted time at Woodlea. The family of June are kindly donating the funds received after her passing to Woodlea and this will be used to create a lasting legacy in her memory.
We hope that the family and friends of June take some comfort from knowing that her family at Woodlea will always have fond memories.
Jillian Shorrocks
Headteacher
Mrs Shorrocks, Mr Cook and two year 6 girls from last year had an amazing time during their visit to Rio and the Paralympic Games. During their time , they watches: Boccia, Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Rugby, Swimming, Goalball and Athletics. They were lucky to visit many of the sights in Rio: Christ The Redeemer, Sugar Loaf Mountain, the jungle, Copacobana Beach and many more.
Thank you to Sainsbury's for the wonderful opportunity.
