    Mon 12 Oct 2015
The football team started the Central Venue Football League matches on Thursday 8th October. The team faced tough opposition in week one but unfortunately lost all three games, narrowly losing 2-1 in two of the games.
The team are new to playing together and are learning fast for the remaining fixtures.

    Mon 28 Sep 2015
School football team trials are currently taking place. The forthcoming matches are detailed in our calendar. Selection for the team will be made on Monday 5th October and a letter will be sent home with all the necessary details. Children must have football boots and shin pads for the matches at Wellfield.
In order to represent the school children must maintain their high standards of behaviour and follow our core values at all times.
  • Macmillan Coffee Morning

    Fri 25 Sep 2015
Children, Parents, Relatives and Staff all helped to raise money in aid of the Macmillan charity.
Donations of cakes were received from the school community and shared at the coffee morning. During break time the cakes and biscuits were offered to the children and donations given towards the charity. The total raised on the day was £230. Thank you to everyone who supported the event.
  • Pen Licences

    Fri 25 Sep 2015
At Woodlea, we expect the children to have neat handwriting and present their work according to the school's policy. If class teachers feel that their children do follow the school's expectations and are consistent with their handwriting across all subjects, they may be eligible for a pen licence.
The children present their work to Mrs Shorrocks, Mrs Strickland or Mrs Whitehall and if in line with the school's criteria, they award the children their pen licence and they will begin their written work in pen.
The following year 3 children were awarded their licences today:
Eloise Downie, Robert Sumner and Ruby Wilding.

  • September Birthday Lunch

    Wed 23 Sep 2015
All the children at Woodlea are invited to have a 'Birthday Lunch' during the month that it is their birthday. The uptake is very good and it is a nice opportunity for sandwich children to sample the school meals. Staff too are invited to sit alongside the children.
During the lunch, the children and adults sit at a specially decorated birthday table, they are waited on by staff in the school, treated to a special dessert and the rest of the school sing 'Happy Birthday' to them.
