  • Merry Christmas

    Fri 19 Dec 2014
Can I first of all thank all of you who attended my assembly on Wednesday and those who have sent their kind wishes for the future.  It has been a great pleasure to have worked with all of you and your fantastic children during the time that I have been Headteacher at Woodlea Junior School.   As I leave to take up another headship at a Primary School in Preston I know that I am leaving the school in safe hands.  I am sure that the staff and Governors will continue with the good progress we have already made and wish all at Woodlea the very best for the future.

I would like to thank you for your support over the last couple of years.  It has been a privilege to be a part of your children’s lives and I have loved watching them all grow and succeed.  There has not been a day that has passed that they haven’t made me laugh, smile and feel proud.

I hope you all have a very merry Christmas and a fantastic new year.

With my very best wishes for the future,

    Vicki Conway
    Headteacher
  • South Ribble Mini-Squash Primary Schools Event

    Wed 10 Dec 2014

MINISQUASH Primary Schools Event - 10 Dec 2014

FIRST EVER in Lancashire and the North West of England!

On Wednesday 10th December “Leyland Lions Junior Squash & Racketball Club” held a “South Ribble Primary Schools Minisquash Event” at Leyland Leisure Centre.  Great Success story thanks to so many!

It’s the first time that a Squash & Racketball Club in Lancashire and the North West of England has held such an event!

The four primary schools - Leyland Methodist, St Catherine’s, Lostock Hall Community and Woodlea took part.  Four children (2 girls/2 boys) represented their schools.

    Quotes from the schools:

    • “The Kids loved it”.
    • 8 year old boy “I really enjoyed it. The afternoon was great and lots of FUN”.

My thanks to “HAYS Education” Preston for sponsoring the event.

Minisquash (5-10 year olds) offers an ideal introduction to squash.  This exciting game fits the needs of younger children and is played using specialised equipment designed to help children achieve maximum success.

    HAPPY CHRISTMAS and NEW YEAR!
  • Greek Day

    Fri 24 Oct 2014
Woodlea Junior School celebrated the end of their half terms work, ‘It’s all Greek To Me!’, by hosting a Greek day. The children involved were from years 3 and 4 and it was the culmination of 5 weeks of work, relating to Ancient Greece.
During the day, the children and staff participated in a ‘Catwalk Fashion Show’, food tasting, Olympic style activities, Greek Writing and craft based work.
The parents were invited into school during the afternoon to share the experience and to view the children’s work from across the curriculum.
One of the parents commented that the certainly looked like they were having fun.

  • Talent Show

    Mon 07 Jul 2014
Last week saw our first talent show.  It was a total triumph!  The children were amazing and I could not believe how much talent we really do have at Woodlea.  A massive congratulations to all of the children who took part but especially our winners our songstress Indika and magical duo Jack and Daniel who shared 3rd place, our talented impressionist Daisy who took 2nd place and our Y6 Diva Amelia who snapped up 1st place.  A massive thank-you to Mrs Darby and Mrs Hughes who worked so hard with all of the children and a special mention to the Y6 tech crew and other staff involved who made everything run smoothly.  I have to say myself, Mrs Leigh our Governor and our Head Boy Sam and Head Girl Rose had a really difficult choice!
