Walking Bus
Dear Parent/Carer,
In our continuing efforts to improve whole school attendance and punctuality, we are going to start offering a daily Walking Bus for children. This would entail children being collected daily from designated drop off points from about 8.15am and walking to school accompanied by members of staff. As well as helping to get children into school, the walking bus also promotes an active lifestyle whilst aiming to reduce congestion and pollution in our local area.
We are aiming to launch Woodlea’s Walking Bus on Monday 11th September 2017. You can find more out about the benefits of a school Walking Bus at http://www.livingstreets.org.uk/what-we-do/projects/walk-to-school-week.
Two routes have been selected each with two pick up points, if you could please indicate your preference on the return slip below. Please can you return the slip below no later than Thursday 7th September to express your interest in this service, so that we are able to plan routes and staffing accordingly and let parents/carers know?
Yours faithfully,

Endangered Animal Project Homework
Calling all children and parents!
Each class at Woodlea is named after an Endangered Animal. I would like you to create your first project homework of this new school year, based on your class animal.
For our children in year 3, this type of homework encourages you to work alongside your parents and produce something very unique to you.
You can use any medium of your choice; 3D, 2D, collage, ICT, performance …
In the past we have had paintings, information booklets, sculptures, masks, cakes, models and the list goes on.
Should you require any additional information, please ask your class teachers, who will be happy to help.
These projects must be in school during the week beginning 2nd October.
Thank you.
Congratulations to Kimberly Smith for being awarded The Johnston Award, for care and compassion.
Congratulations to Lewis Edgar for his progress in Reading during his time at Woodlea.
