  • Mrs Shorrocks Weekly Challenge

    Tue 21 Apr 2020

Hi All, Mrs Shorrocks Weekly Challenge! Remember when we had 'Good To Be Me Day' back in February. You all heard the story, 'Only One You' about being an individual, celebrating difference and being unique. I was out walking and saw the perfect rock and had a thought. I'd like you to decorate a rock as a fish! I painted the rock first of all with white gloss paint and then used Molly's collection of brightly coloured nail varnishes to make my fish stand out. Please make yours unique and stand out from the others. When you have finished with it, please upload a picture and when we return to Woodlea, bring it with you. Thank you and I cannot wait to see your creativity! Mrs Shorrocks

Look at your SeeSaw account and Enrichment Pages of the website for the images.

  • Joint letter from Woodlea and St Andrews re Coronavirus is in Letters to Parents

    Tue 17 Mar 2020

    Tuesday 17th March

    Dear Parents,

As you will be aware Woodlea and St Andrews schools remain open. I would like to thank the pupils and parents who have remained calm as we work with this situation.

We are taking our advice and guidance from Public Health England, as we have done throughout the last two weeks. We are taking all practical measures to minimise the risks to pupils and staff. Maintaining good hygiene (especially hand washing) is very important. It is also important that anyone with symptoms that may be coronavirus (cough/ high temperature) stays at home for a period of 14 days. If there are siblings that cannot be kept separate from the pupil with symptoms, they should also stay at home for the 14 day period.

In line with government advice we will review all trips and activities on a case by case basis.

At Woodlea we are also cancelling events where a large number of additional people would be coming into school. These include the Mother’s Day Lunch, Charity Coffee Morning, Family Assemblies and the planned parents' evening; 31st March and 1st April.

No headteacher wants to send a message like this, but I hope that you will understand that we have made these difficult decisions in the best interests of our school community.

Thank you for your continued support.

    Mrs Shorrocks and Mrs Corry

    Mon 16 Mar 2020

    CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) UPDATE - 16/03/20

    • School is open as usual (until we are told otherwise by Public Health England)
    • If we close we will inform parents / carers through text, Twitter, Latest News on the school website and letter (if the decision is made while the children are in school)
    • See the above action plan for more details of what we are doing in school
    • If your child shows symptoms (temperature and persistent cough) keep them off for 7 days (do not call 111) - if it becomes clear it is COVID-19 (Coronavirus) inform school (01772 421992).
    • Only contact 111 if there are difficulties, if it does not clear up after 7 days or there are underlying other health issues. Otherwise it is a case of 'getting through it' and recovering at home.
