    Children

    No School Bags will be allowed in school

    PE Kits

    Children will need to bring their full PE kit into school on the first day back in a PE or carrier bag. Please ensure that this is all labelled fully with their name and class. The PE kits will remain in school and stored in the cloakrooms, on a labelled peg.

    Reading Books

    These will need to be brought to school daily and taken home each night. They need to be in a book bag, which will be provided by school, and be kept in their individual trays.

    Water Bottle

    All children must bring a filled and clean water bottle into school daily.

    Hand Sanitiser

    Children are allowed to bring hand sanitiser into school for their own use. These will be kept inside their own individual trays within their classroom.

    Parents

    There has been an addendum added to the Home /School Agreement relating to Covid-19 guidance and safe practice. Please ensure that this is read thoroughly and shared and understood with your children. I reference this when reminding you of social distancing; when entering and leaving the school premises, having only one adult accompanying a child to school and your responsibility re informing the school if you or a family member show symptoms or test positive for Covid-19.

    Contacting School

    Whilst we are trying to continue our ‘Open Door’ policy in school, these unprecedented times have made this less likely.

    We are asking that no adults come into school to make contact with school staff. If you need to pass any medication into school please contact the office in the first instance and they will arrange to meet you in reception: 01772421992.

    All current and updated communication will be on the school website www.woodleajuniors.co.uk , your SeeSaw accounts, via text message and twitter:

    @TigerClass1

    @ClassRhinos

    @elephantsclass

    @SnowWoodlea

    @ChimpsYear6

    @orangutansclass

    As you keep hearing in the various media, these are unprecedented times, however we as a school will do as much as we can to ensure that your child’s experience will be as ‘normal’ as it can possibly be.

    Please continue to trust us to educate, care and keep your child safe whilst they are in school.

    Thank you for your continued support in all aspects of school life and I look forward to seeing you in September.

  • Updated infor re possible reopening of school to Y6 Children

    Mon 08 Jun 2020

    Monday 8th June 2020

    Dear Parents,

    As of Monday 8th June, Lancashire County Council have advised their schools not to reopen to more children before Monday 22nd June. This is because they do not currently meet all five of the government's tests in Lancashire.

    A further decision will be made next Monday 15th June by Local Authority and I will be in touch with you in due course.

    I assure you that this is being reviewed with governors, based on current national and local guidance and advice.

    Thank you once again to all of our families for your continued support during these times.

    Kindest Regards

  • Updates re possible reopening to y6 children.

    Fri 29 May 2020

    Friday 29th May 2020

    Dear Parents,

    As of Wednesday 27th May, Lancashire County Council have advised their schools not to reopen to more children from 1st June. This is because, in their assessment, they do not currently meet all five of the government's tests in Lancashire.

    As a school we had already made the decision that we would not reopen before 8th June due to our own risk assessments.

    As I stated last week, I would contact the parents who have decided to send their children back to school on Wednesday 3rd June with more details.  At this stage we are not able to make the decision to open safely until the local situation changes.

    I assure you that this is being reviewed with governors, based on current national and local guidance and advice.

    Thank you once again to all of our families for your continued support during these times.

    Kindest Regards

  • Joint letter with St Andrews re potential reopening.

    Tue 12 May 2020

    Dear Parents,

    Following on from the Prime Ministers speech on Sunday evening and the potential reopening of schools for Reception, Year 1 and Year 6, we want to make it clear to you that this will only happen if it is safe to do so.

    We do not, as yet, know how this will look and await further government guidance.  Our main priority will be and has always been ensuring the safety of our whole school community and any decisions we make about reopening will be based solely on that.

    The schools remain open only to the children of key workers and vulnerable children.

    Staying at home remains the safest place for your children. They are completing work and learning at home whilst maintaining the social distancing guidance, which has kept them safe so far.

    As soon as we have further clarification on a potential partial reopening of the schools, we will be in touch.

    Thank you for your continued support, particularly during the last 2 months. I and all of our Woodlea and St Andrew’s community appreciate your hard work and kind words.
