  • Year 6 Awards and 100% Attendance - 2014 / 15

    Mon 27 Jul 2015

We were extremely proud of the year six children and the achievements which they gained whilst at Woodlea Junior School.

There are three awards that are given to children from the year group, which are voted for by the staff in school.

The Hewartson Award - this is given to a boy and a girl, who have during their time at Woodlea been positive role models to others in school, as well as showing excellence and endeavour in all areas. This year we were very pleased to give the award to Matthew Quinn and Amy Moran. This was especially pleasing, as they were also the Head Boy and Head Girl.

The Johnston Award - this was again voted for by staff, for showing care and compassion to others in school. The receiver of this award went to Liam Brown.

The Allison Award - is for progress in reading during their time at Woodlea. This year the award was given to Chloe Homer for her effort and determination in reading.

We are also very proud to have 15 children, who had 100% attendance in school, since September 2014.

Thank you to al the children from year 6 and the rest of the school for persevering and making Woodlea the school that it is.

  • Leaver's Lunch

    Mon 20 Jul 2015
As part of our end of year celebrations, the year 6 children have enjoyed their Leaver's Lunch. They chose the menu and had additional treats.
  • Robinwood Residential

    Fri 17 Jul 2015
    Robinwood – Year 6 Residential
40 of this year’s year six children have had a three day residential experience in Alston, Northumberland.
During these few days the children have experienced a wide variety of challenges, experiences and activities. These have included; The Piranha Pool, Giant Swing, Trapeze, Crate building, River Walk, Canoeing, Night Line, Team Challenge, Caving, Climbing, Obstacle Course, Zip Wire and the list goes on.
The activities started as soon as the children got off the coach from Leyland, with a three mile nature walk, incorporating lunch, quizzes and information about the local area. From then on the children have not stopped, apart from to eat and sleep.
Thank you too to Mrs Strickland, Miss Alty, Mr Brierley, Mr Cook and Mr Baxendale for giving up your time and supporting the children with this unforgettable experience.
Below are a number of photos taking during the first two days.
  • PTA Disco

    Sat 11 Jul 2015

On Thursday 9th July, Woodlea’s Parent’s, Teacher’s Association held their termly disco.
Yet again there was a fantastic turn out from the children of Woodlea. As the weather has been warm, the PTA decided that they would sell ice pops to help cool the children and adults down!
The evening was again a huge success, raising £300 profit, which will go directly to the children.
The disco is provided by Ricardo & The Comets. They play current and game music and have dancers on stage, showing the children the dances to the songs.
As part of the children’s entrance fee, they have a drink and a packet of crisps.
Thank you to all the PTA members who helped to organise the event.
